How children are protected
Updated 18 October 2026
A grown-up can add a child aged 3 to 17 to the household. Children get their own PelQi, built to be safe and patient, and grown-ups stay in charge.
What is different for children
- No email or sign-in of their own. A grown-up hands their device over with Use their PelQi, and switching back needs the grown-up PIN.
- Homework without the answers. PelQi guides, quizzes and gives hints and stars for effort, and logs progress where grown-ups can see it.
- No web reading or browsing. PelQi does not fetch web pages for children and has no browser for them.
- Nothing outward. Children cannot start tasks, schedule things, contact businesses, make calls or texts, connect accounts, use agents or make documents.
- Home only within limits. Children can add to lists, tick their chores and send announcements only to the grown-ups at home. Smart home only works for devices a grown-up ticked.
- Quiet hours start at 8pm to 7am for children; a grown-up can change them in Family.
- No email from PelQi. Children never get the morning brief by email.
- A grown-up agrees to how PelQi uses AI for them, and can remove a child's profile at any time. A child's information is never used for advertising.
Set it up
- Open Family and, under Add a child, type their name and age and choose Add.
- Under Grown-up PIN, set 4 to 6 numbers, so a child cannot switch back to your PelQi.
What you should see
The child is listed with their age and stars, with Use their PelQi beside them.
If it does not work
- See Children's profiles for switching between profiles and removing one.
